We think the number one thing that seperates us from our competetion is our history.  The Terrace Hair Studio was founded by my father Angelo C. Maresca in 1964.  Originally named Terrace of Beauty, it has been part of the fabric of North Haven for more than 50 years.

Angelo started his career at the age of 17 working for (and even managing) several salons in the New Haven area.  He took a break from 1950-1952 to serve our country in the US Army.  When he returned, he opened the Flair Beauty Salon in New Haven and operated it until 1964.  At the time, he was associated with the Plaza Hair Fashion Group and opened one of their salons in the New Light Inc. Shopping Center in North Haven.  Shortly thereafter, Angelo opened Terrace of Beauty.

Angelo was a true pioneer in the beauty industry.  Over the years, he worked on several famous people including Ethel Merman.  He constantly pushed the envelope with styling techniques not common in that era.  Known for his pin curls, sets and shag cuts, he was also an expert in color.  In fact, Angelo was known in the New Haven area as The King of Color!

When you stop by the studio, you'll notice while a lot has changed... a lot has stayed the same.  The most obvious change of all is we've moved from 56 Washington Avenue.  While making the move down Route 5, we packed everything into the moving van that made us special - from furniture, to hair dryers to scizzors.  However, of all these things.. the most important thing we packed took up no room at all... our committment to you our customers.  The one thing my father prided himself on was providing our customers with the best beauty services possible in a warm and friendly environment.  We treat our customers like family.  Because of this, many of our cusomers today are relatives of my father's customers many years ago.
